See Nxworries (Anderson .Paak & Knxwledge in London on May 28th
If there is something better than a new headliner, must be two headliners. Our second announcement saw NxWorries joining the ever-growing constellation of Cross The Tracks as the two new conjoined stars. In one corner, a shiny blue giant, Knxwledge, production talent, Grammy winner and Kendrick Lamar’s personal beat wizard in To Pimp a Butterfly.
In the other corner, a sparkling red fireball; Breezy Lovejoy, Cheeky Andy, DJ Pee Wee AKA the unapologetically happy musician himself; Anderson .Paak. They began their collaboration with Link Up and Suede and by the time their debuted Yes Lawd! in 2016, .Paak was well on his way to pop stardom.
Someone told me a story once; ‘My homies and I were sitting around watching .Paak’s Tiny Desk on youtube (a must!), and someone said; ‘he’s so talented I don’t know why I don’t listen to him more. It’s probably because he’s too happy’.
And as stupid as it sounds, it kind of makes sense in the saddest way ever. He does not play the game; he does not fabricate a story. Anderson .Paak is a musician. Ventura and Malibu are no skip albums. Well rounded concepts that work as a whole. What Can We Do? Made the youtuber / artist roaster Fantano cry (not that matters, but it is a highly relatable tale).
Although .Paak was heavily featured in Dr. Dre’s Compton, including Animals, produced by DJ Premier, and funnily enough, this track was supposed to be in the actual body of work that catapulted .Paak into the mainstream. Malibu is just full of hits; The Season / Carry Me, Am I Wrong, Room in Here or Come Down to name a few.
The atmosphere .Paak creates on this album is undoubtedly the best part of it. He uses his soulful voice in combination with uplifting instrumentals to create this incredible warming and welcoming vibe throughout the whole album. It’s also aged like fine wine and is now more relevant than ever.
The Bird is one of the arguably best introductions to an album of the last decade, as it sets the tone and tone of the album immediately. Anderson .Paak hasn’t really missed with any of his recent singles or output, and we have full faith in him to continue to deliver fantastic music and eventually top Malibu with a new album in the future.
Together, Knxwledge and Anderson Paak come together in the super Duo NxWorries, delivering bangers like Where I Go with H.E.R. (in which the feature kills it, by the way).
Their chemistry is palpable in Yes Lawd!, where there talent cohesively comes together in harmony. It almost feels like Anderson is literally MADE for the kind of production Knwledge provides.
Also, shout out to Starlight. What a song ladies and gentlemen.
We have more artist confirmations down the line. Children of Zeus, a soul project from two of Manchester’s most respected artists, Konny Kon & Tyler Daley. Soul for your bones.
Yazmin Lacey’s When The Sun Dips 90 Degrees is a key hole to her heart that animates the slice of life writing, probably noted with thumbs under a moody grin. Son Little and Annahstasia also join the rest of stars in this galaxy of charisma and talent.
